Blessings

Blessings
Count them
One by One
I've always thought that a grateful heart is something that is cultivated -
we are not naturally born grateful!
I've been challenged to look around for the blessings in my life everyday, not just the good days.
Noticing blessings, saying "thank you" for them, cultivates a grateful heart.
It also deeply connects us to God as He is the giver of all good things.
My husband just hand painted this sign for our son's school auction.
It is a great reminder.
Have a great weekend counting your blessings!

  1. He is so talented! And, yes, I agree: a grateful heart is not natural but when we open ourselves up to being grateful we find ourselves closer to the giver of all good things. "Every good and perfect gift comes from the Father of Lights."

Have you read Spiritual Parenting? She talks about how service (even just chores within the home) help to cultivate a grateful heart in our children. I have found it works for me as well. When I start to take Lucas for granted or feel entitled, I try to find a way to serve him and often it humbles me and helps me to see what a wonderful, wonderful gift he is and all that I have been taking for granted. XOXO
