Grateful Heart Friday

It’s Grateful Heart Friday and after a long, little sleep filled week, I’m struggling to be grateful! That’s why this discipline is really good for me! So, even though I’m tired, I’m taking a moment to reflect back on this week and pull out the things I can be grateful for!

I’m grateful for a wonderful evening away with great girlfriends and the amazing stories shared of God’s faithfulness. I’m grateful for my new pilates class (haven’t formally exercised in 5 years – I do chase a lot of kids though!!) I’m grateful for a visit from my mother in law. I’m grateful for Stacy and Luca and the fun they brought to our home yesterday. I’m grateful that it is Friday and we’re starting a 3 day weekend in the upper 70s!! Most of all I’m grateful for God’s Word and the refreshing promises He brings. I’m grateful for this passage which I’m clinging to today.
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not be in want. He makes me lie down in green pastures, he leads me beside quiet waters, he restores my soul. He guides me in paths of righteousness for his name’s sake. Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me; your rod and your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies. You anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. Surely goodness and love will follow me all the days of my life, and I will dwell in the house of the Lord forever. Psalm 23
Now it’s your turn – take a few moments to reflect on all the blessings from this past week and cultivate your grateful heart!

** If you have a great dinner idea, we'd be very grateful if you'd share!  Please post it in a comment and contribute to What’s For Dinner?

  1. What a great New years resolution! I'll add that when I'm feeling alone, panicked, desperate, that I'm never truly alone and I can turn towards God for comfort, love, and strength. And when I turn to His word, I know He is there, because he provides just what I need to hear. See my recent blog entry at http://ticklebugz.blogspot.com/2011/01/can-i-get-hand-please.html. Afterwards, I got the urge to read James and found that verses 5-6 in chapter one really spoke to my heart.

Anyways, what about Enchiladas for dinner?

  2. An at least bi-weekly recipe for us is something I just call MUSHROOM PASTA. My mom made it and it only takes about 5 ingredients. So here goes:

    1 medium onion
    1 lb ground beef
1 (1lb) box of rigatoni pasta
3 cans cream of mushroom soup w/ 5 cans of
    water added
    seasoning to taste (salt, pepper)
(I will also add crushed garlic and diced mushrooms for extra flavor. But this is not necessary to originally recipe.)

Saute onion and add ground beef until browned; drain excess fat if desired. Add remaining ingredients and stir well. Cook until most of liquid is very thick/almost gone; roughly 45 minutes.

  3. The above recipe sounds very yum...I'm sure my hubby (a mushroom lover) will love it!

Also, last Friday, I also did a "grateful heart" type blog... I LOVE this idea... after a long week of stuff to not be grateful for, it's great to reflect on all the GREATNESS of GOD!! So, if you don't mind, I think I'll do it again!
    God bless!

    My recipe:
    1 lb Fettuccine pasta
    1 26oz can Spaghetti Sauce
4-6 oz cream cheese (depending on preference)
1 lb browned ground beef/turkey cooked with 1 chopped onion

garlic, salt, pepper, other seasonings as desired

Mix sauce, cheese, meat/onion, and seasonings & allow cheese to melt & mix with sauce... simmer then add to pasta...

I have 4 picky eating children... ALL 4 loved this recipe; a couple of them even had 3 helpings! Super YUM!
